Operations (Middle Office) Placement

The role represents a great opportunity to join an exciting business and to support the UK Middle Office team in order to manage the EMEA post trade lifecycle accurately and efficiently. You will work with a variety of World First Teams including Front Office Dealing Desks and Back Office departments such as Treasury and Payments. Furthermore, you will strive to offer outstanding customer service in all client facing facets of the role.

The World First Middle Office team is looking for an enthusiastic individual with great attention to detail and organisational skills. This is an exciting opportunity for a student who is on a four-year sandwich course, with an interest in the financial markets to move to one of the most innovative and fastest growing foreign exchange companies in the UK.

To be considered for this placement you will be on track for a 2:1 degree (or equivalent). The ideal candidate will have a friendly, approachable manner with a 'can-do' attitude to work, and who is experienced using Microsoft Office systems

Examples of Key responsibilities:

  • Providing assistance and support to the Middle Office Team
  • Assisting with client queries and resolving any issues that occur
  • Adding/editing settlement details
  • Producing client statements
  • Ensuring timely settlement of client trades
  • Monitoring the Middle Office Inbox and actioning emails
  • Covering of open positions, booking Swaps, updating forward rates & checking that trades are booked correctly
  • Assisting in the trade to payment process
  • Supporting the Trade Control function with daily operations
  • Extensive communication with other teams within in the business for example Operations, Dealing, Treasury
  • Internal and External ad hoc requests

Key Capabilities:

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
  • Strong organisational and numerical skills
  • Good team work, communication and ability to work in a time pressured environment
  • Fluency in English is essential
