Performance Placement

The placement would be in the On time Performance Improvement team supporting the team in the identification and then delivery of performance improvement related projects. The placement student will support the Head of On time performance Improvements and Northern’s Regional Performance Improvement partners in identifying, qualifying and implementation of on time performance improvement project utilising Lean principles and Northern’s Practical Problem Solving Process. The placement student will support engagement with Northern’s On time champions’ programme, working with frontline colleagues to convert known problems into implemented solutions, and through this the placement student will have the opportunity to engage with colleagues across a wide range of departments within the business as well as industry partners from Network Rail and other train operators.

About You

This placement would particularly suit a student studying a degree related to Business, Programme Management, or Logistics. The following skills are required:

  • Organised and experience in managing projects successfully
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrable ability to solve problems

The following are preferred:

  • Have an interest in the operational railway
  • Customer focussed
  • A good attitude, hard-working, with a desire to learn and develop

This role is not safety critical.
