About Association of British Insurers

The Association of British Insurers is the voice of the UK’s world leading insurance and long-term savings industry.

A productive, inclusive and thriving sector, we are an industry that provides peace of mind to households and businesses across the UK and powers the growth of local and regional economies by enabling trade, risk taking, investment and innovation.

We develop policy solutions for challenges facing society where our industry has a role to play – think how to insure automated cars and giving the public more transparency around their pensions, to name just a few. As a forward-thinking organisation, we work with government, regulators and policymakers, both in the UK and internationally, to ensure the insurance and long term savings industry meets the needs of the public to the highest standard.

Data & Analytics Sandwich Placement

We’re looking for Data and Analytics Assistants to join us for their sandwich placement year, starting in September 2018.

With us you won’t just observe; you’ll be liaising with our member firms to collect data and gain insight to help form the basis of our analysis, aggregating data and assisting with presenting this data in an innovative and engaging way, and you will also participate in the running of various conferences and events.

We have two placements available and they will enable you to gain some real responsibility, making your time with us memorable, worthwhile and contributing towards your future employability.

Requirements

You’ll currently be a student studying a Mathematics, Statistics or Economics sandwich degree, or have an element of these in your course. It is essential that you are a capable user of Microsoft Excel and as part of the interview process, we will ask you to complete an Excel task.

We’ll support you to apply what you’ve learned on your course so far in the workplace so we’ll be looking for you to show a keen interest in the Insurance sector, or be willing to develop your existing knowledge. It is important that you are organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage several pieces of work at any one time. Effective written and verbal communication skills will stand you in good stead for this placement.

Your industrial placement must be recognised or supported by your university and you must be able to start the placement in September 2018.
