Information Security Year Placement

Placement students will join our Information Security practice providing support and security expertise to the business. After initial induction and training, you will work alongside our analysts, specialist engineers, security architects and security managers.

The role primarily involves responding to and following up any security demands, supporting the design, implementation and rollout of security controls across the business. The Information Security Intern will also provide assistance to the rest of the team and will be involved in providing support for all aspects of the company’s Security systems.

This is very much a hands-on technical role, and provides an excellent learning experience for placement students wanting to launch their career into the field of Information Security within finance. The Security Intern will work closely alongside senior team members who will be able to help with advice and troubleshooting. Due to the investment the company makes in IT and Security systems, there will be plenty of opportunities to develop knowledge of cutting-edge technologies within the security arena. This role will suit someone who has a real interest in information security and IT infrastructure in general, and a demonstrable aptitude for applying theoretical computing concepts and their skills to solve real problems.

Introduction and Training

Your first two weeks will consist of comprehensive in-house training. It is essential that you become accustomed to our user environment and IT infrastructure in order to progress and feel confident working within the team. This period consists of hands-on training, learning our day-to-day systems as well as attending theoretical seminars in relation to how our systems work and who is responsible for each aspect.

Following the successful completion of this you will be integrated into the Information Security team working alongside a mentor and members of the senior team who will provide support. Progress reviews and updates will be undertaken regularly.

The Individual

This opportunity will suit candidates who have a passion for technology and information security, coupled with an aptitude for applying computing concepts to real world problems. Applicants will have strong grades at A Level or a BTEC with triple distinction, be currently studying for a computing degree and on track for a 1st or 2:1.

This role offers the perfect opportunity to put theory into practice. Previous successful placement students are now working with us having returned from their final year at university.
