Communications Industrial Placement

The Communications team at our Hinkley Point C (HPC) power station is a key part of the communications directorate for EDF Energy’s nuclear new build programme. The team is responsible for internal communication with those working on the HPC project in the UK and France and external communications with the local community and supply chain.

The Communications Industrial Placement will support the Nuclear New Build Communications teams across a number of disciplines. In particular you will assist with the staff communications and engagement programme, interacting with a wide range of stakeholders from the senior leadership team down.

You will also help provide professional advice and direction on a number of discrete communications programmes and will be required to support the External Communications and Community Relations teams with building local community and external stakeholder relationships for specific projects as required.

At the end of your placement you will know which HR area you enjoyed the most and want to build a career in. The skills, knowledge and experience you will have gained will be invaluable to you going forward and will look great on your CV too.

About You

• You’ll be on track to achieve or will have already achieved a 2:1 undergraduate or 2:2 postgraduate qualification preferably in a Journalism, Media, Communications/PR or Marketing discipline.
• Excellent practical communication abilities (for example, writing and design management) to hold the confidence of peers, colleagues and senior management, as well as excellent attention to detail.
• Able to draft content, strategy and messaging that aligns with the bigger picture communications strategy
• Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• You’ll need to have a professional outlook, a creative mind and a real team spirit.
• Above all, you’ll need to have a flexible approach and be keen to make the most of the year by taking on whatever tasks you’re presented with.
