Credit Risk Internship

Department information

Our Credit Risk department sits between our risk management and finance functions. The department is responsible for the management of all aspects of the credit risk life-cycle including researching and analysing trading counterparts to determine appropriate levels of exposure; negotiating and structuring credit support arrangements; credit pricing valuations and monitoring and reporting of credit exposures and events. Managing credit risks at EDF Trading is varied, interesting, challenging and rewarding; our physical and financial activities in multi-commodities provide a diverse counterpart portfolio including a number of different sectors and countries from industrial conglomerates, oil and gas E&P, vertically integrated energy companies to financial institutions and commodity trading houses.

Main responsibilities

You will work closely with an established credit team and gain experience in structuring credit requests from front to back. Your main tasks include limit setting; financial credit analysis; identifying other credit risks; and obtaining credit approval. You will be assigned some names that you will review and be exposed to how we monitor credit exposure across the portfolio, excesses and tenor breaches, whilst interacting with various other teams such as treasury, front office origination and legal. The role will enhance your understanding of counterparty credit risk assessment and how we manage energy related products such as power, gas, oil, LNG and LPG.

Experience required

Working towards an analytically based discipline; degree in risk management, maths, engineering, finance or economics. Ideally, you will also be proficient in Excel, VBA, SQL and Matlab.
