Business and IT Excellence Placement

Siemens have a great opportunity for a ‘Business & IT Excellence Intern’ within their office in Manchester. Siemens Digital Factory & Process Industries and Drives provide innovative solutions for UK industry - we optimise our customers' processes, maximise their productivity and reduce their energy costs with our product range and Totally Integrated Automation solutions. The product areas which DF & PD sell to customers are Factory Automation, Control Products, Motion Control, Process Automation, Large Drives and Mechanical Drives.

You will be working within the ‘Business Excellence’ department responsible for delivering change, transformation and improvement activity at all levels of the organisation.

Your internship will focus on IT improvement topics, supporting the team to determine, develop and deploy new IT initiatives whilst engaging & educating employees at all levels of the organisation and providing ongoing support for IT equipment. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with the business’ cross-functional teams to elicit requirements and identify potential IT improvements.

You will also have the chance to participate in Siemens’ national Intern Development Programme and enhance general business skills such as public speaking, problem solving and career planning.

Activity

  • Business Analysis & Improvement – You will play a key role in analysing our business, researching IT improvements and formulating proposals for the deployment of new hardware and software solutions in alignment with business objectives.
  • Project Co-ordination – You will act as a liaison between the business and our IT department/ suppliers and assist with the development, acquisition and deployment of new IT infrastructure.
  • Employee Engagement & Cultural Change – You will assist the project team in inspiring employee engagement and a culture of continuous improvement through the creation and delivery of workshops, presentations and drop in sessions.
  • Information Technology Support – You will also work closely with employees to resolve queries and overcome technological issues, including being an IT ambassador responsible for ensuring the Sales force are informed of any technological advancement and fully equipped to win business.

Knowledge

  • Studying towards or have completed a degree in a Business, IT or related discipline.
  • Technical IT knowledge not required, however a keen interest and aptitude to learn about business IT and information systems is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, confident and clear communicator who is comfortable delivering educational material to end users at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ideally have intermediate/advanced level Excel/PowerPoint skills.
  • Sound understanding and appreciation of how IT solutions can be used to compliment business processes and enhance customer service.
  • Knowledge of business improvement techniques an advantage but not required.
