This twelve-month placement within the Crop Protection Division at BASF Plc, located near Manchester, is an excellent opportunity to join over 100,000 employees at the world's leading chemical company and gain valuable insight into the dynamic business environment of a global organization.

• We are looking for an ambitious and hardworking intern to join our controlling and procurement team for a twelve-month placement.
• Working within our Crop Protection team, you will be trained to be a key SAP user for select SAP modules for procurement and accounting and will own to end to end procurement process and support the cost accounting process.
• In Procurement, you ensure the timely creation of purchase orders with correct documentation in SAP as well as being aware of compliance requirements & the approval matrix to authorize purchase orders.
• You will develop an interface with buyers and large key vendors to ensure a smooth procurement and accounting process through active communication.
• You will publish monthly procurement KPIs covering timely creation of purchase orders, complete documentation, timely payment to vendors, zero tolerance to non-compliance.
• In addition, you will support the cost accounting process by ensuring the correct accrual of costs against correct cost centres as well as ensuring the timely payment to vendors ensuring business continuity.
• You will play a major role in ensuring year-end accounting by proactively managing accruals and reviewing open purchase orders and will follow up with buyers or vendors to ensure correct costs are booked in the accounting cycle.
• Throughout the year, you will work towards a smooth year-end cost accounting closing procedure. This includes (but is not limited to) highlighting open purchase orders, closing them wherever required.
• Finally, you will, as process expert, conduct 'back-to-basics' work-shops to create awareness of procurement process and ensure knowledge transfer to new buyers and vendors of BASF procurement process.

What we expect

• You are working towards a business or financial related degree, on course for at least a 2:1.
• You are confident working with Microsoft Excel and are ideally conversant with SAP.
• You have an interest in accounting, procurement and technology.
• You are confident interacting with large set of stakeholders and able to multi-task.
• You are able to work to strict deadlines, ensuring that you produce quality and accurate work.
