Marketing Placement

The role of the Marketing Intern is to assist the marketing team in the planning and execution of consumer marketing programs supporting Valspar brand communications, new product launches and business-building initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support with new product launches, promotional campaigns, PR events and any day-to-day activities within the marketing department as required by the team
  • Provide support in the development and management of all digital activities including web and social media
  • Lead ad-hoc marketing and PR projects with the support of other team members
  • Assist with the development of merchandising materials, promotional items and literature, working with new and existing vendors for cost efficiency and on time delivery
  • Participate in new product launch testing to assess the ease of use and experience as a true consumer
  • Carry out competitor, product or customer research via desk-based analysis or field visits as required, keeping colleagues up-to-date and maintaining internal records.
  • Be the first point of contact for customers requiring catalogue copy and product images, taking responsibility for maintaining and updating the online photo library
  • Manage the marketing aids internal request system, maintaining stock levels and coordinating the shipping of marketing items to the field sales team
  • Take responsibility for maintaining the training and research centre – ensuring it remains clean and tidy, products and colour chips are in stock and paint mixing machines are filled and in good working order
  • Support in the creation of product data sheets, documentation and other marketing administration as required
  • Business support to facilitate the efficient processing of payments to our suppliers.

Personal attributes

The Marketing Intern should be an organised and adaptable individual with a real enthusiasm and sense of responsibility for their work. A team player, they will be a good communicator and have a personable character, able to work with a variety of internal and external contacts.

Experience and skills

The successful candidate will ideally be studying for a marketing or business-related degree and must be fully computer literate with a confident phone manner. A full, clean driving license and a car are essential for this role as some travel will be required. Previous professional work experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

Salary and benefits

£18,000 per annum (pro rata) plus opportunity to opt-in to the company pension scheme and private healthcare scheme if desired, subsidised gym membership at local gym.
