Summer Placement

To find out whether a career in law is for you, apply for a one-week paid placement where you’ll experience a real week in the life of a trainee solicitor, sitting with your whole team in an open plan office.

We offer around 40-50 paid placements each June. On your placement you will be ‘buddied up’ with a trainee who will be able to answer any questions that you may have.

You will be given real responsibility and real case files.  You will also be set a mini project to complete which will help you to get to know people in your office and across the firm.

Placements provide invaluable experience, allowing you to choose the right firm for you, and can even fast track you to a place on the assessment centre for a training contract.

How to apply

Applications are open to law students from their penultimate year of University and non-law students from their final year of University.

1. Research why you want to be a part of the firm and what kind of employee the firm is looking for. What is the firm's strategy? What are the firm’s values? Read legal updates online and follow the firm on social media.
2. Read the question. Do you understand what the question is asking you? What competencies are the firm looking for you to demonstrate in your answer?
3. Structure your answer. Make sure you explain your point with examples and use the word count to your advantage.
4. Sell yourself to the firm. Demonstrate why you would be a valuable employee.
5. Mark your application yourself with a red pen. Criticise your spelling, grammar, punctuation and check you have ‘answered the question’.
6. Finished? Persuade a friend to check over your application with fresh eyes before you hit the submit button.
