Community Energy Placement

Community Energy is a fast growing business delivering low carbon district heating solutions across the UK. The design process requires collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of plant that is valuable to our customers and to provide returns on our investment.

What you’ll do

The Undergraduate Design Engineer will be responsible for a variety of design tasks split over the Underground Heat Network and Mechanical teams. Work will predominantly fall into the following equipment areas:

• Energy Centres (i.e. Biomass Boilers, CHP Engines and Associated Pipework)
• Underground Heat Network including stress calculations using NETSIM.

This will involve travel to each of the district heating sites and working with key stakeholders such as the project delivery managers and design team to assess the sites against current E.ON commissioning standards.

The role will also involve the support and roll out of a new commissioning process both for the overall sites and the Heat Interface Units.

What we’re looking for

You’ll be working towards an engineering degree, with demonstrable skills in planning, organisation and project management. You’ll approach every task with drive, determination and resilience, accompanied by great problem solving skills. Ideally you’ll have great communication skills, strong collaborative values and experience managing a variety of stakeholders. (UK). Competency in MS Word, Excel & Power Point is key as is a flexible attitude and willingness to travel when required

The desirable skills or experience we look for: Electrical, Mechanical or Control and Instrumentation plant experience is useful, along with projects or modules related to district heating.
