Welcome to RSM. As one of the largest networks of audit, tax and consulting firms in the world, we help students kick-start their career in business.

Whether you join us in audit, tax, consulting, corporate finance, risk advisory or accounting, you’ll enjoy a powerful combination of on-the-job learning and expert training – not to mention an impressive client list to work with. We support organisations across a wide range of sectors, so you could be working with premier league footballers and tech start-ups one day, and charities and multinationals the next.

Tax Placement

Our tax placement programme will give you all the skills and support you need to unlock a future that’s packed with opportunities and new experiences. You’ll enjoy a powerful combination of on-the-job learning and structured training – not to mention an impressive client list to work with.

Join our team and discover a culture that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.

What does our tax team do?

Tax is a fact of life – it’s deducted from our wages, added to things we buy, paid by companies and rarely out of the news headlines these days.

But a career in tax isn’t just about numbers. It’s about working with people and businesses to make sure tax doesn’t become an obstacle to their long-term goals.

On a day-to-day basis, our team helps organisations and individuals comply with the shifting requirements of the tax authorities and pay the right amount of tax so they avoid criminal convictions, hefty fines and damage to their reputations.

We also help shape business strategies so organisations can legally reduce the amount of tax they pay, and help individuals with a range of issues, including planning for the future and business structuring.

What can you expect?

RSM offers the full range of routes to professional qualification. With us, you’ll be involved in projects from day one – anything from liaising with clients to preparing and completing tax returns for HMRC. With our support you’ll have the space to grow professionally so you can confidently take on ever-more challenging tasks.

Our tax placement programme will give you a solid foundation in a broad range of tax issues. The variety of work we do and the range of clients we work with means you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discover a career path that fits your interests and long-term goals.

What we look for

Tax is a technically demanding discipline, so we look for people who are always up for a challenge and are quick to grasp new subjects. At RSM, you’ll be helping a big range of clients - from wealthy individuals to major multinationals - so it’s important that you’re adaptable. You’ll often need to explain complex technical information during client meetings and in written reports, so we’re also looking for people with excellent communication and business skills.

If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.

Entry requirements

At RSM, we don't just look for good exam results. We think passion, personality and originality are just as important. You’ll need a minimum of Grade C in English and Maths, 280 UCAS and at least a 2:1 degree to apply (or equivalent).

For Scottish candidates you’ll need a minimum of 5 National 4/5 qualifications or equivalent, including maths and English (equivalent to Intermediates or Standard Grades), 260 UCAS points across 4 best Highers or Advanced Highers and 2:1 Honours degree from any discipline.
