Volvo Bus UK reports into the European division in Sweden and is part of Volvo Bus Corporation (VBC).

The business control department is responsible for all aspects of financial management, including reporting, budgeting and forecasting. Also responsible for the Order to Delivery process of New and Used vehicles and for the continuous improvement of processes in Bus UK.

Business Control and Sales Admin ensures that all New and Used Vehicle invoicing is undertaken efficiently and effectively and cash is collected according to AB Volvo terms and conditions. Risk management and control is a key activity to ensuring the business is well managed and profitable.

Business Control Assistant Placement

We have an exciting opportunity within our department where the successful candidate will be able to contribute to the team and make a real change. The role reports directly to the Business Control Analyst, where there is opportunity to provide a new perspective on day to day duties within the team.

Responsibilities:

Working on various projects you will get to learn about different areas of the department which will give you a sound and broad understanding for your time after University.

In essence, the key projects being:

  • To support the Sales Support Manager in terms of Process Improvement across all areas of Volvo Bus UK, as set out by the Steering Committee.
  • To develop and implement a reporting tool (and process) to assess, validate and recommend changes to the Volvo Bus Residual Value policy.
  • To support the Business Control Analyst to develop and implement a reporting tool (and process) covering weekly and monthly KPI’s in Volvo Bus UK.

Other Duties:

In addition to the core project, this new role will also support the wider remit of the Volvo Bus UK Business Control and Sales Admin team, with a range of tasks to support team deliverables & providing a broader financial and commercial experience for the successful applicant.

  • General assistance to other members of the team as required, in particular with actions relating to New and Used vehicle administration.
  • Support the Business Control Analyst with month end activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned

Current degree requirements:

  • Studying for an Accounting or Business Management degree.
  • 2 years completed – placement between 2nd & 3rd study years.
  • Academic grades on track for a first or high 2:1 on their chosen studies

Competencies, skills and knowledge required:

  • Prior knowledge of Accounting preferred but not essential
  • High degree of IT competency, especially excel and access
  • Logic/analytical skills
  • High numerical ability
  • Confident personality
  • Able to discuss issues and challenge
  • Willingness to learn
  • Team player
