About RBS

A programme with us is about more than just the chance to learn. It’s about making a difference. It’s about applying your talent, and turning your ideas into actions. That’s why we’ll support you, and give you every opportunity to make your mark. If you have talent, energy, and the commitment to help shape our business, a career with us is a challenge that will inspire and motivate you.

We want you to make a real contribution to RBS. You can look forward to early responsibility, exposure across different business areas, exceptional training, and the chance to develop skills that will shape the rest of your career. And then there are your colleagues, buddies and managers, who’ll encourage you to share your opinions and ideas, helping you reach your full potential.

Business Technology Internship

If you’re in your penultimate year of your degree then you can join us for a summer Internship. This will be a chance for you to get a real idea of what you want to do when you graduate, and develop a unique skillset.

We have a clear focus on where our forward thinking, technology and innovation can take us, and how it can benefit our customers.

From designing new customer platforms, developing mobile technology, creating simple payment solutions, right through to making sure that all our customers’ information is safe – Business Technology makes banking easier, resilient and more secure.

What you can expect

Our 10 weeks summer Internship Programme will give you an opportunity to contribute to leading technology projects in a specific area. From working on projects that protect us against cyber attacks, helping us stay one step ahead of our competitors with LUVO (our Artificial Intelligence personality), to creating a better journey for our customers in Open Experience – we offer an exciting variety of work.

If you’re creative, you could be one of our future innovators - developing award-winning banking apps and shaping innovations, or join us in creating Innovation Spikes, where you can enhance our products, and look at emerging technologies to bring the benefits to our customers.

We collaborate on multi-million pound projects with high profile third party suppliers to mitigate attacks on our websites and mobile banking apps. You could be found working with colleagues in our division, assessing their requirements and then negotiating terms and conditions with third party suppliers. Or you could even be helping us to manage the purchasing, testing and implementation of new technologies for the bank.

You’ll also work with your fellow interns on a project to show what you’ve learned, and share your ideas on what changes you’d make to enhance what we do.

Who we’re looking for

If you're resilient, articulate and great with people, we want to hear from you. You don’t need specific technical knowledge to apply. What we want is your drive and passion for technology and willingness to learn. You’ll be flexible and have enthusiasm for helping us be the best we can be for our customers.

Whatever your degree discipline, we welcome your application and ask that you’re on course for at least a 2:2. You don’t need any specific UCAS points.

We’ll provide you with the skills that you’ll need to start a long term career as well as develop your broader potential.
