They also provide reassurance to senior management that funds are being managed in line with the mandate and provide clients with real insight into the investment characteristics and risks of the funds in which they invest.
  • Risk Monitoring – The counterparty credit risk team undertake the due diligence of market counterparts on initial set up and on an ongoing basis, with a view to establishing and maintain trading lines. The Risk Controls team is responsible for providing independent valuation of non-standard / complex assets and performing a review of risk in relation to asset portfolios usually encompassing the calculation of various risk metrics, capital utilisation and stress tests.

You will be involved in a variety of tasks, the nature of the work will vary dependent on the team you are placed with.

Work that previous interns have been involved in includes:

  • Running periodical procedures and ensuring funds stay within risk limits
  • Meeting with fund managers to discuss the risks they have in their portfolios

You will take part in a training programme which includes insights sessions on asset management and the M&G business units. These are designed to be suitable for those without industry knowledge, and will provide an understanding of the whole spectrum of business areas within M&G.

Interns are also invited to networking and social events, and provided with a buddy from our graduate cohort who will act as an informal support contact.
