About Sightsavers

An international organisation that changes lives, both immediately and for the long-term, Sightsavers works in more than 30 countries to eliminate avoidable blindness and support people with visual impairments to live independently. Our vision is of a world where no one is needlessly blind and where people who are blind enjoy the same rights as people with sight. Each year, we improve the lives of millions of people in the poorest parts of the world.

As an increasingly influential international development organisation, we are ambitious. Sightsavers has seen significant growth in income in recent years and we expect this to continue. Our future goals include the launch of a major new fundraising appeal in autumn 2014. We are also establishing a reputation as a highly effective advocacy organisation. In December 2013, we launched our first policy campaign in the UK, calling for the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the international development agenda. In addition, we are working with partners such as national governments, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, DFID and WHO in a worldwide initiative to control or
eliminate ten Neglected Tropical Diseases by 2020.

Who we are looking for

Sightsavers has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Systems Intern to join the team at Haywards Heath. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of finance systems across the global organisation. We are looking for a Finance Systems Intern to respond to helpdesk and training requests from end users and to undertake systems administration, maintenance and reconciliation procedures.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in a finance related role with a strong academic background in accounting, mathematics or ICT related subjects. Knowledge of core accounting principles and controls is desirable alongside excellent information technology skills. The successful candidate will also have excellent attention to detail and be able to confidently communicate with colleagues based in other locations.
