I enjoyed my internship greatly – I got tremendous satisfaction from completing assigned work which contributed to a more significant goal, as opposed to the work I normally do at university (and have done throughout my academic studies). Working with fellow interns and cooperating with other BP employees added to my enjoyment and enhanced the experience. I always looked forward to another day’s work – even if at times work was challenging – progressing with tasks and developing my skillset.
I enjoyed the topics I worked on within the discipline. I felt that they were directly in line with the aims and ambitions of the business and I wasn’t given work that wouldn’t be used or have an impact. I worked with people from all over the world and was very pleased that the internship wasn’t cancelled despite what’s going on. I was able to the entire internship virtually and was given support to do this.
I really enjoyed the experience. I got to look at lots of different types of data sets that I had never seen before which was really interesting. I also spoke to lots of people so really gained an understanding of the variety of roles within my sector. I really liked that there was lots of discussion and it was very easy to ask questions and ask for help when I needed it. It also helped me decide what I want to do as a career path.
I was uncertain whether bp would be able to construct a rich learning experience in an online format and shortened to 6 weeks. However, I was extremely pleased with the programme. Straight away, I was given responsibility for a real and interesting project and given the information and tools to work on it. I was immediately welcomed to the team and my ideas and contributions were valued. I developed many hard and soft skills - from learning new programming languages to becoming a confident presenter.
I really enjoyed it, we were given a lot of training opportunities and the work I was doing was very interesting. Despite having to do the internship virtually (due to the coronovirus restrictions) BP made a lot of effort to allow us to have an equally good experience online. We were all given a graduate ‘buddy’ which was great as it gave us someone who could answer questions completely honestly and they gave a fair insight into work at the company as well as giving great advice.
I really enjoyed the insight program. Despite covid restrictions the team at BP did a really great job making sure we got the same amount out of the program despite not being there to complete it in person. Most of the sessions were really informative and getting to hear from a wide range of employees really gave me a great feel for the company and its culture. It also made me feel very well prepared to apply for jobs at the company in the future.
I really enjoyed this insight as I got the opportunity to network with many different employees working at BP, I enjoy networking as you can learn a lot from other people's experiences. BP could have improved the networking by including employees at different levels in the company as the majority of people were graduates. I also really enjoyed that the insight was held virtually as it was very comfortable to carry out in my own home.
The Female Discovery Week was originally to be held in person, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic every in-person activities were cancelled. BP tackled the problem by holding online seminars and insight classes. We managed to hear the experience of current graduates and have very useful insights on the selection processes. Of course, online inductions and talks cannot be compared to travelling around the UK and networking, however I was very satisfied and surprised by the quality of the talks.
The virtual experience exceeded my expectations completely. Everyone was extremely welcoming and approachable no matter their seniority in the company. Furthermore, I was extremely busy throughout the experience with a wide variety of real work, similar to what an actual job would be like.
I would highly recommend this opportunity. Completing workshops such as 'A day in the life of...' and 'Confidence through communication' were really enjoyable. It was also fantastic to network with BP employees and peers during the experience. It was such a shame that we were unable to visit the Sunbury site and take part in the experience face to face due to COVID-19, however, Natalie, Samira and all of the fantastic staff involved in organising the week worked so hard to ensure that this did not affect the quality of the experience. They put together an excellent, well organised and interesting virtual programme throughout the summer for us all to enjoy- thank you very much!
It was a very insightful and interesting experience, in which different virtual events allowed me to learn more about the various graduate opportunities within BP, from more engineering and science based to data analysis and finance. I also enjoyed the confidence building workshops and found them very useful. It could have been slightly improved by sending out clearer emails about the different sessions, as I did not receive the link to join some of them. There could also be an in person event organised for the future, once the COVID situation improves.
I really enjoyed the internship because I received lots of support from my team and also people outside my team. It was especially challenging this year because it had to be conducted virtually. However, I still feel that it has been really well structured with appropriate "lessons" about different areas of the company throughout the internship. There were a lot of opportunities to network with people throughout the company even though it was carried out remotely. We had the chance to ask questions to people with really senior position to understand the company values and direction in greater depth.
I enjoyed it alot. The staff were extremely kind and welcoming and there was a good balance between challenging work and learning about the company. The virtual challenges we overcome with relative ease due to a very well thought out scheme. It was clear that making our internship placement an enjoyable one was very important to bp. The other interns were also great, it was a community of like minded individuals who were able to get on extremely well.
