The job became repetitive at times but my manaqer gave me other tasks and responsibilities to keep me busy and diversify my role. I also got to move round the area a bit. Overall, it was a really good experience - i'm glad I took a gap year.
The placement was very good and gave an excellent insight into working in a central bank or conducting analytical work. However at times it was monotonous with a lot of spreadsheet and excel work, with little opportunity to demonstrate economic knowledge in written analysis.
I very much enjoyed my placement at the Bank. The atmosphere there is great, all staff are easily approachable and importantly the work I had a chance to be involved with was of great interest to me - I particularly liked how directly this worked linked to stance of monetary policy. More specific to my job, I enjoyed the broad range of topics covered in the various projects I worked on and greatly valued the insights of the economist with whom I worked.
Thoroughly enjoyed the internship. The work was engaging and interesting and I certainly gained a lot from the experience. Some of the events could have been better organised, such as the tours and the night out. On the whole though, it was well worth doing.
I had a fantastic time working there experiencing what life is like for a professional economist in the public sector. It was exciting to be able to apply some of the theories learnt to the real world with policy implications. My department was friendly and helpful and there was a good group of interns.
I was lucky enough to be given an extremely interesting project on a topic closely related to the current work in my division. It required me to use some of the technical analytical skills I developed during my undergraduate degree and it was a fantastic opportunity to learn to use new software (Stata).
