The three main attractions

For me, it was the relationship focus of the Commercial Banking Graduate Scheme I applied for; LBG’s sustainability agenda and contributions to ESG; and the Helping Britain Prosper strategy supporting British businesses with a range of financing needs.

My day to day

It involves working on deals and keeping the client updated, building models to sensitise the business’ financials, and undertaking credit analysis on the strengths and risks they face. Key work is speaking to external parties like advisors, and lawyers whilst also running transactions.

Flexible working is very important

In my team, we have a working policy where we are in the office 3 days a week (to collaborate and work together) and at home 2 days, but this is flexible based on meetings to make optimal use of our time.

My favourite project

Helping a prestigious UK restaurant chain restructure their capital stack (debt structure) and put in place some financing lines to build out their flagship restaurant in New York. That’s cool stuff.

My biggest achievement

In my current role, in Leveraged Debt Capital Markets, I’ve led key parts of mega-million-pound syndication processes. I’m even taking a lead on calls under my Managing Director’s instruction.

Strong Associate pool

They’re always ready to band together and help each other, particularly on transactions. It’s reassuring and has helped me build confidence.

My career progression

I imagine I’ll soon go for an Associate Director role in my team or an adjacent team to build out my skill set. I feel like now I’m ready for more.
