    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • No two days were ever the same, every day there was always something new happening. I wasn't stuck doing the same repetitive tasks every day.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • They made me feel like I had been with the company for years. They helped me get settled in quickly.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was always on hand to give me any help I needed and she even taught me new things as I progressed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Though I had many things to do each day, with good time planning I didn't feel too rushed off my feet. If there were times where I had a lot going on, other people offered to help me out.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility from the get go. In my first week I was already sending reports to HQ and by my third week, I was leading my own meetings.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I have developed will definitely help me in the future. I have learnt in terms of using new software and have expanded my Excel knowledge. By already mastering various software, it will look really good on my CV.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Despite how stressful the industry can be at times, there was always banter in the office and music in the background that kept things light hearted.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • As soon as I started, I knew what I was doing and had everything set up within a couple of weeks.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company paid for me to visit other sites (including ones in other countries) just so I can see and learn more about the company.

  • They have graduate programmes which they encourage you to apply for.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The HR team were always organising events every week for interns. My site manager always had an event for the site every week too.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Because this placement was in London, it was quite expensive. However, it's easy to travel in from outer London.

  • There was plenty going on every night.

  • There were always volunteering events going on and team building events.
