    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was not only a hugely valuable and rewarding experience but enjoyable too. There was plenty of social events and fun activities to get involved in, therefore enabling all the interns to meet etc. The work I was given on a daily basis was appropriate yet challenging therefore allowing me to stretch myself but accomplish the tasks given to me, therefore every day was hugely rewarding.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The teams I worked in were always very welcoming and made me feel part of the team immediately. My work was always appreciated by all the employees in my teams. Not only was I thanked for my work etc. but also I was often given valuable feedback on my work on its merits as well as its weaknesses in order to allow me to improve on it next time.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given tasks on every day, all of which were hugely varied which was good as it made every day different. The tasks I was given were suitable and appropriate for my knowledge and experience, therefore not much guidance or support was required of them. However, whenever I had a question they were always very accommodating.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work I was given although it varied, sometimes got quite repetitive, such as inputting information into excel spreadsheets. This kind of work I did not find to assist me in my studies in third year of university as it was simply just a receptive task, however it was hugely valued by the team when completed as I understand it saved them a lot of time.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was really well structured, we were given a timetable of all events at the beginning of the placement so we knew when everything was happening, from social events to talks. There was various departmental talks during my time here on everything from investment to hotels to property management, giving me great exposure to everything that goes on at Savills.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • I was given a very warm welcome by the HR staff at the beginning of the internship which was hugely appreciated. I was then introduced to my team where the atmosphere again was very welcoming and accepting. There seemed to be a lot of 'office banter' which was highly amusing but distracting at times.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt that over my time here I wasn't invested in hugely by the company, however this is most likely due to the short time I spent here and is totally understandable. However, I believe the time I spent with the staff and the time the staff invested in me was invaluable as they were always very willing to sit down and just have a chat with me about what department I'd like to go into and general career advice.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I was based in various departments throughout my internship from property management to project management to industrial to residential to office leasing. So the placement was hugely helpful in helping me decide which sector/department I want to go into. I was given a wide exposure throughout my time here, also through departmental talks so I got exposure to departments which I didn't even work in.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • My pay just about covered my living expenses throughout my time spent with Savills. Especially as the placement was in London, with transport being very expensive as well as nightlife etc., it was very hard to cover costs at times. However, I still hugely appreciate being paid, especially as the placement was such a great experience and so beneficial to me.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • yes there were several opportunities to do this. There was a big lunch with fee earners within the business which was a great networking opportunity to speak to people who had been in the company for so many years and from such a range of departments as well. There was also a rounders match with the graduates which was a great way to meet people of the graduates scheme.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Yes there were several opportunities to do this. The firm encouraged the interns to meet up with drinks etc on several occasions, following those events set up by the firm, the interns then continued to meet up a few times a week for drinks after work. There was a big lunch with fee earners within the business which was a great networking opportunity to speak to people who had been in the company for so many years and from such a range of departments as well.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, I would definitely recommend this internship to a friend. It is hugely insightful as you get exposure to the firm to see if it is the company for you in terms of its values etc, you get exposure to the industry and the several departments within it and you also get exposure to the city of London which is a great way to see if you would like to work there in the future.
