    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Great insightful week with lots to do and lots of information to absorb. Every member of the company was friendly and made me feel welcome as it was my first time spending a long period of time in a bank. It was really interesting and I really enjoyed the experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The week was a marvellous opportunity to meet the other students and network with staff however if was also a great chance to get to know the recruitment staff. By the end of the week they all knew my name and I had a chat with all of them. I felt very welcome as a potential employee of the company.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was not much support available initially, however the recruitment team and any panel or staff member that spoke to us was very willing to answer any questions that we had throughout the week. There was helpful emails sent out prior to the week that helped me prepare a little. The week did not really need a lot of support.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Well my degree is not finance based so technically it did not help. However, some of the sessions we had on soft skills were very helpful for future experiences like Assesment centres and job interviews and hence future jobs. During the week I got more comfortable with professional networking too.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The week was well structured and the timetable we were given was incredibly organised. However, the sessions often ran over the time that they were allocated and so breaks were cut short etc. Everything went ahead though and everyone was on time even if the schedule did lag. Often the night activities went on later than they should have.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere in Citi was very professional but not 'stuck up'. Everyone was so welcoming and really made me feel like I could work their. The interviews I had at the end of the week were extremely chilled, they were more like conversations which I enjoyed. At no point did I feel like I was less valued because I was just a spring intern.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Relatively. It was a very short time to spend in the company to really get a true of feel of what life is like but as there was such a variance of people coming to speak to us it helped me to get a slight overview of the culture and the emotions of the employees.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It was very helpful As it was rotational it helped me to identify what division I think my skill sets suit, and what the division is like in Citi. I liked the interactive games and activities and think there should be more of them as they are more representative of the job more so than hearing from someone who works in the division. It did not help me identify what area of markets I'm interested in but I suppose that is the purpose of the Summer Internship.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There was a lot of opportunities to network in the week which was great and the people they had for us to network with were all suitable and insightful. *plus free wine is always good*. The only thing I would say is that a couple of the night time activities went on a bit long. It was a very intensive week and very long nights didn't help.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • As this was a Women's Spring Week there was a lot of emphasis put on the opportunities for women within the bank to network and find out about experiences. I was very supportive of this. As I also do a lot of volunteering it was interesting when someone came to talk to us about the global volunteer day and all the opportunities to get involved in and outside of work.
