    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship - the company is great to work for and the people you work with are friendly and welcoming. I didn't feel like the new joiner at all.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • People really tried to include me as much as possible and get me involved with various types of work and were always really grateful and thankful for the work I had done.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given some support from my line manager. The new graduates were very supportive and always willing to answer any questions I had, no matter how "stupid" they were.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was generally very busy, with around 3 pieces of work at a time. This was good for developing my time management skills.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given some responsibility doing calcs and checking other people's work.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've definitely learnt a lot about the pension industry which will be greatly helpful in the start of my career next year. I've also gained skills in communication with others, working in a team, time management and confidence in presenting which will be helpful for my degree studies and life in general.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was friendly and relaxed which really helped me to settle in. I never felt like I was being judged.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The Graduate Recruitment side was very organised with two induction days and a final presentation day. I didn't have a structure as such with my work but I'm not sure it was needed.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • People spent a lot of time with me going through all the work I was doing. I would've liked more software training as I was new to it all, however I know there isn't much time to do that in a 6 week internship.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for this company. It's one of the best companies (if not the best) in the pensions industry and seems to have great career progression opportunities.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I was the only intern in my office which was the only negative of my experience really. However, this did give me a really good opportunity for everyone in the office to get to know me better.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was living in a city centre but this isn't too expensive if you watch what you're spending. Tesco is the same price as anywhere else and there are always places you can find that do cheap drinks if you spend a bit of time on Google!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • City centre nightlife is great.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some after works drinks which were a great opportunity to get to know the people in the office in a more relaxed environment.

    3/5
