    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement, every day was a slightly different challenge.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued, by the end of the placement they knew that if they gave me something to do it would get done, equally I knew I could ask them about anything I was struggling with.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I wasn't given a huge amount because everyone, especially my line manager were very busy for most of my placement.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There was plenty for me to do

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Not as much as I would have liked

    2/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They have given me a much better insight into how a construction industry functions and the governance of different stakeholders in the project. It has also improved my people management skills which will help in group tasks at uni.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed, yet work focused and there was always a bit of banter flying around!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Well organised on the most part, however I think that line managers should have to come up with a more detailed plan of what the intern can do before he arrives at the placement. So that they have an idea of what he can do when the intern is there rather than having to take time to come up with something there and then.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
