    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had a delightful time, great tasks that I really enjoyed and fabulous support from my whole team. I worked on tasks that I loved and in case of a problem, I could ask my team mates as well as my line manager was there for me to help with anything and explain if needed.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team was very good. Everyone super helpful and ready to help if I needed anything. I had the chance to ran an analysis and then share it with my whole team, get engaged and say my own opinion of the outcome and had a discussion about what I have found.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager was amazing, spent lots of time with me, explaining and answering all my questions. He was the person I spent the most time working with. Also, there were very many careers people, as well as I was assigned a buddy to help me in case of any issues.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most of the days I had quite a lot to do, which was great, made the day go by pretty quickly. Some days were a bit more busy and some days were longer, but overall I thought the balance was good. I also had a chance to balance my workload as I wanted and I did not feel as if I was under any pressure.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was doing couple of pretty important tasks that if I messed up could have a pretty big impact. I also run an analysis, on which results will next be based. Couple of the tasks I was doing I took over from a collegue and the ones I started I will hand over to my team mates. I felt as I had a lot of responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • All the skills are applicable to my career or my studies, definitely useful. Now, during uni, I have the chance to see the subjects taught in more practical sense and can see how what we learn is applicable in the real world. Also, lots of other skills are useful for every day life, usch as team work and social skills.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were very many ways Tesco invested in our development. We had couple of intern development days where we all gathered and had very intersting talks and interactive activites. We also had a day to get us more aware of the different areas within the business. We also had couple of intern challenges that were great for our development.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company itself is great. They really care about people and go extra mile for them. The job I had was great and really interesting. There is also so much opportunity to move around the business, as Tesco is so large and gain lots of different experience in huge variety of areas.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Within interns, we had our social rep who organised lots of different events. We had at least two each week, and everyone had the opportunity to get engaged. We were going for drinks in pub, nights out, comedy nights and much more. My colleagues also organised couple of after work activities.
