    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a really inviteng, friendly and welcoming firm and the mentors and advisers really made the experience enjoyable. The rest of the interns were great fun and all the socials that had been organised were really well done. I felt like I managed to get a really good insight into the profession and was pleased to get given interesting and worthwhile jobs.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They didn't mind if I asked lots of questions and I felt comfortable asking for help. The management team were frequently there during the socials which gave us a chance to get to know the system better too.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There were points when I had lots of work but it was never overwhelming and was always manageable. I never felt like I had nothing to do as my mentor's were always making sure that they gave me interesting work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the end of the fortnight I was allowed to draft, sign and send letters to clients which was a really i,portant bit of responsibility. However, I never felt completely overwhelmed and there were always people to help. The level of responsibility was just right and I think it adequately reflected the type of work I would be given as a first seat trainee.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This experience has definitely helped to extend my skills as a solicitor. It has been an eye-opening insight into the firm.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was really friendly. Everyone kept their doors open and it was just natural to go into other people's offices to chat or ask for help. There was a really positive atmosphere that everyone was enjoying what they were doing.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It could have benefitted from having slightly fewer organised speeches from lawyers in the firm but otherwise it was really well organised. There was a really good balance between work, skills exersises and social events.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They had clearly put a lot of effort into getting a wide range of the firm's lawyers to come and speak to us each day. I felt as though the mentors were really aiming to get us involved in realy work and teach us about the details.
