  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed it. Had a constant stream of work. Never was bored or lacked work but also was never stressed or pressured. Variety of roles and responsibilities.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very, I did a lot of meaningful tasks and saw my end products being used. I was taken to a variety of meetings and spent a lot of time with clients.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Whenever I needed help it was available, even if not directly from my line manager, who always made time to help me out no mater how busy they were.

  • Constant stream of work, never excessively busy so was never stressed or pressured but also always had something to do so was never bored or idle.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • To start with responsibility was low as I gained knowledge and experience but as the internship went on. My work was shown to senior people and it got used later on.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Organisational skills is the key. prioritising tasks to enable me to meet multiple deadlines simulatenously. No technical skill will transfer

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was good. A good mix between relaxed but serious. Enough to get work done but lively enough to make it enjoyable and social.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • From the line managers perspective it was very well organised. I was in a client meeting 1 hour after joining the team. I always had work, I was set up on all the systems. however the onboarding portal did not work.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • lots of listening lunching, networking events and internal training through. the initial training period was very good.

  • Very, if I was looking at commercial banking as a career. Very enjoyable, clear career progression.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yeah, lots of events organised by interns but not by HR. Lots of chances to meet new people in the first week and CSR and D and I projects. Lots of social nights organised by us.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is relatively expensive however I didnt notice this being from Surrey, so me the prices were normal however others felt it was expensive. Rent did take a rather large portion of my wages. Other banks provide accommodation grants/money.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very good. London is very active with club events on most nights of the week.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Not particularly. Not through HR. No gym no RBS sports teams, no organised RBS events. the graduates organised 1 or 2 nights
