    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I found the work was both challenging and exciting. I was exposed to three different roles during my time at Capgemini within the recruitment, tobacco and gaming industries. Each role brought new challenges and the opportunity to develop new skills and expand your network of contacts. Therefore I found my work very interesting!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The culture at Capgemini is one of its best aspects. I felt like I was really valued by my team members and the company as a whole. I joined the Business Technology Consultant (BTC) discipline which provides you with a community of undergraduates and graduates to realte to.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • From the beginning you are assigned a "Capgemini Buddy" who is somebody from the BTC (mentioned above) who eases you into the company, answers any questions you have and introduces you to other people in the business unit. Additionally I was assigned a reviewer who acts as a Capgemini mentor who I meet with every month to discuss the work I have been up to, receive guidance and to gain feedback from my Project Manager. I also felt that I could ask anybody (regardless of job role or how senior they were) a question and they would happily take the time to help me out.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • In my role I found that each project brought different challneges, workloads and deadlines. Therefore some projects were noticably busier than others. I felt that this really helped me manage my time effectively as it taught me how to hit deadlines during busy periods and use time effectively when my workload was calmer.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I found that each project gave me a high level responsibility where management were dependant on alot of the work I produced.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There is no doubt in my mind that the skills I have learnt here will be incredibly useful throughout the rest of my studies and during my future career. I have learnt how to operate different technology, manage my time and people effectively as well as building a valuable network of contacts that will help me get to where I would like to go in my career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Each project brings new enviornments, client officies and challenges. This changing atmosphere was incredibly interesting.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Capgemini dedicates a whole business unit to placement students and graduates. It has it's own line manager, reviewers, capgemini buddies, HR and resourcing managers. It was very organised but also allowed you to be flexible. For example I was able to make my own contacts and get myself onto projects that interested me.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Capgemini provides a wealth of training resources which you can tailor to your interests. During my time I completed and gained a certification in Business Analysis, gained access to SAS software and learning materials through it's own learning and development site and attended a Raleigh Leadership Weekend which allowed me to manage a project team and also gave back to the local community.
