Assisstant Construction Manager Review

It was a fantastic experience and very rewarding.

I was swiftly made to feel very much part of the team and their feedback suggested that they valued the work I conducted.

The people in my team always answered my questions, set me tasks to complete and voluntarily offered to help and support me on the project.

I spent a week settling into the project but after that it was very full on and tended to be very busy during the working day. On a team of 5, 3 went on holiday so I had to help cover other team members.

I was in charge of creating 2 tender packages, managing the construction of 2 contractors, logistics plans, risk registers and much, much more. Once you can gain the trust from the rest of your team, the responsibility delegation begins pretty quickly.

I will be able to use and develop the skills I have obtained through my placement during the remaining time on my university degree.

Whilst working in the construction office, the atmosphere of the team was very enjoyable and relaxed, whilst productive. The 4 other team members were very welcoming and made me feel included, as did the whole of the site project office.

The recruitment process was very well ran and coordinated. A group induction day meant all the placement students created a network before we started which helped everyone make connections and networks. During the placement my line manager was fantastic and regular meetings helped us make a planner and to set goals.

The company helped me get my CSCS Card, complete a number of construction related e-learning modules, a sustainability course, and an occupational health workshop.

Fantastic! I have been offered future placement experience, and the potential to join the graduate scheme once I have finished my degree.

The team I was based with had a number of social events after construction milestones with clients, contractors and designers. The group of placement students formed a group and have met up for 3 socials during the time on my placement.

Whilst working in London, prices will always be high but at company socials, costs were subsidised which helped persuade people to socialise together.

London nightlife is always brilliant.

Mace offered the opportunity to run in a 5km charity run, cycling events, other charity volunteering days and a football match vs one of the site contractors.
