  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Fantastic placement, exceptionally well organised with a full programme of events to immerse yourself in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were all exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Reassured that the work you completed was invaluable, and quickly made to feel like one of the team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • For each department you sat in, you were affiliated with a supervisor, as well as a buddy. All four were extremely supportive, and would freely clarify any points that you were not clear on. All keen to share their experiences, and offer guidance when needed.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days were obviously quieter than others, but always had a suitable amount of work to be getting on with. The days were also supplemented with a vairety of presentations from various members of the firm.

  • Given the right amount of responsibility throughout the two week scheme.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work undertook in departments, as well as presentations by various members of staff developed invaluable skills required for work as a commercial lawyer. Also has the opportunity to take part in botha presentation exercise and negotiation exercise with other members of the vacation scheme which was excellent in developing communication and teamwork skills.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Even when the pressure was on, the atmosphere continued to be friendly. The general culture at the firm could be continuously felt throughout the placement. There was an excellent mix of professionalism and friendliness.

  • Graduate recruitment were fantastic in organising a wide range of events throughout the two weeks.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Firm provided excellent benefits on offer to all vacation students; not only giving students the ability to learn what is like as a trainee at a commercial law firm, but also developing other skills such as the art of negotiation.

  • Had the opportunity to complete a further assessment centre at the end of the vacation scheme, interviewing for a training contract at the firm.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Organised two very successful social events outside of the office, and various presentations throughout the two weeks which enabled the other placement students to meet. Got on exceptionally well with all on the scheme.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Socialising in London is obviously rather expensive, but prices were not astronomical

  • Wide variety of pubs/ bars/ clubs

  • I took part in some pro bono work that the firm runs, attending a local law centre and advising members of the public.
