The Role
Very data and performace driven, but satisfaction from owning some projects throughout the year
You will play an integral role within a team, with high expectations from all in the company, they understand and appreciate how much is expected of placements and give thanks when it is due. Recognition is important in this industry.
Very lucky to have a great line manager and very supportive team, but can be a very competitive arena career wise
Never nothing to do, but plenty of things you don't want to do.
You are accountable to an extent for all work produced. Ensure you communicate any schedule clashes or time delays on work asap, and keep all email communications saved to ensure you have covered your back should something come back to you.
invaluable
The Company
depended on who was out of office. There is a good group of graduates but many of my younger colleagues are leaving tthe company at this time. Can be a slightly older culture, which is beginning to dull the office down
Always willing to improve your skills and put you through as much training as possible. Personal development is a massive part of J&J and this counts for placement students also
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Competition for J&J grad positions is tough, and there are many other companies out there. Would be happy to look elsewhere for grad positions, and experience other industries.
The Culture
As many already knew each other, it wasn't that amazing. But grads at the company are happy to involve you, and other companies such as BMW and PwC in Reading have a more diverse pool of placements from different uni's, so get in touch with them!
Lived in Reading, not too cheap as Fri and Sat are not student nights
Reading nightlife is pretty poor, but head into London if money permits
If you look for them there are plenty
