    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Work was good, but it was a struggle in terms of getting interesting tasks to work on.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Interns were not certainly welcomed at the desks, for many it appeared as a liability. Maybe it is due to the nature of work the desk guys were involved. But then it is them who requested for an intern in first place.

    1/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At some desks, the manager wasn't even willing to spend a minute with the intern. Again, maybe he/she was too busy, but it is his/her job to ensure that requisite attention is given to the interns, either through their personal time or through somebody else. That is something which lacked. Some of the desks had more than one intern and were not planning to hire a graduate for the coming year but still the interns were scheduled to work with those desks and not told about the headcount issues till the last day. This was even brought to the notice of the management half-way through the internships.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • 4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Was desk-dependent. Some desks were fun, some were absolutely dull.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A lot could have been done better. People at the desk weren't even aware of an intern coming at the desk till the intern actually shows up. It might be argued that how should this affect the intern as long as people know once he/she is there. Well, it would certainly help them plan something for the four weeks intern spends at the desk.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • RBS did fairly well on this front. First week of training was useful. We also got to interact with senior management, it was a good learning opportunity for us.

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • RBS promises to be a good place to build you career.
