    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This placement exceeded all of my expectations. When i first applied i was very nervous about the work i was doing however the work was continuously changing giving me a variety of tasks whilst still giving me a large amount of responsibility. The people you work with are always supportive and i enjoyed the job that much i extended my contract for part of the summer

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The projects i got invovled with were very important to the sucess of the business and i was responsible for large sums of money in my accounts and transfereing that money to the correct account. I was asked to reclaim the tax that was paid for the entire maintenence of the building which was about half a million pounds which gave me a sense that i was clearly valued and trusted by my team

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • As a student obviously i was not completly trained with the programes and accounting rules however the student from the previous year stays behind an extra month to make sure that if you have any questions he is there to help and guide you in your first month. after that you are given a budy to ask any questions no matter how big or small. I always felt supported and there was always someone to turn to

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was sometimes left with smaller and less meaningful tasks to do but that was expected as the company at the time was being restructured - jobs moving around etc. However there was always adhoc work to be done and investigations, sometimes for other departments which i enjoyed as it gave my job variety

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As an accountant i was in charge of aroudn 30 accounts with large sums of money in them aswell as transferring large sums in month end journals. If my work was not done it would affect other people not allowing them to complete their tasks aswell as the companys p/l account and balance sheet

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • this job has given me great insight into working life and realife accounting situations. i have developed all my accounting skills and they will definatly assist me when i return to university

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Accounting is a very friendly environment with a relatively small team. Although it was rather queit in comparison to other departments (who were constantly on the phone) there were always birthdays/dressdown days and people to talk to, to liven up the working day

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The HR team at both pinley house and redhill were exceptional. From the day you take your assesment centre to the day you finish they are constantly trying to ensure that you know what you are doing, which training programes you are on, who you are working with, asking for feedback and overall making sure you enjoy your time with them. In my department i was also given set tasks and procedures from my manager which had clear deadlines

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • You are able to take part in a number of training schemes from french to IT to learning about different departments of the comapny, to email writing and pubilc speaking.

    5/5

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The fact that both in my department and IT next door, industrial placement students had returned after their final year of university, gives me great prospect for future employment with the organisation

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As a number of the students lived together we always had birthday nights out, mid week football, entire company christmas event and leaving drinks etc
