    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I was always busy and was given tasks that actually added value to the company, It has been a brilliant experience where I have learnt so much about auditing and accountancy in only 6 weeks

  • My colleagues gave me tasks to complete that allowed me to take responsibility for my work.

  • We are given a buddy for the duration of the internship and a counselling manager to speak to regularly with any queries. They are very helpful and help you to fit in as quickly as possible.

  • There was always tasks to complete and you are always busy - If you finish a task there is always more to do so you aren't waiting around.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Much more responsibility that I would have expected. I was given my own sections of the audit file to complete and so took responsibility for these areas.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The work I completed at BDO taught me about what it takes to work in a professional environment and is very relevant to an accountancy degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Very friendly. The office isn't very big so it doesn't take long to get to know people

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was booked on to audits and had office work ready when I arrived at the office. The team seemed well equip to handle a new intern and the training week was very well organised too

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The took us for a training week at the start and a few days away at the end. They really take the time to make sure everyone feels they are getting the most out of this opportunity

  • Hopefully very likely. There is a clear route of progression through the compnay

  • Yes, the interns all seemed to get along well

  • Quite expensive, but a very nice area
