    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • It was a fun internship and I learned alot about the energy industry. Some of the work was a little dull, but it was compensated by trips to the assets and an overall great company culture.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team was quite small so there was a feeling that everyone mattered. My colleagues were very helpful and always treated me like an equal.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was ace. She was always there to help, even if she wasn't based at Windsor with me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It really depends. Some days there was alot to do (both in terms of meetings and actual busy work) while others it was quieter. Overall, it was a solid 8:30 - 4:30 commitment. The important thing is that I never felt overwhelmed, and always knew I could ask for help if needed.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Quite alot. I was given my own big project and a couple of small ones. My manager supervised my work and offered valuable insight.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have definitely acquired more skills and knowledge of the industry which will help me in the future.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Absolutely fantastic. My floor had a great work/life balance and the company culture was followed. We even had a BBQ.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well set up in my case, but this varies from manager to manager.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had lots of training and the company allowed us to shadow other areas of the business in order to get a more rounded view.

    5/5

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It would be great to get an offer.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was always something to do. Since we were all allocated to the same residence, you lived with other interns.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Windsor and Egham are not the cheapest, but then again its not London expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Bad. Just bad. RHUL was in the middle of nowhere (unless you drove). For a person that is used to a big city, this was a bit of a bummer.

    2/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes! We were encouraged to do community service and my floor organised various sports activities throughout the placement.
