The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It was a fantastic experience and would recommend it to anyone. I was treated so well from the minute I started until the moment I left. Responsibility is given as well as real jobs that benefit the business. Highly recommended!
I was treated well by everyone. As a peer and not as a student.
When I needed help my managers and supervisors were always there.
Some days were quieter than others but overall I was kept busy throughout which is exactly what I wanted.
I was given more responsibility than I had expected. I was responsible for key aspects of the business that were crucial.
My placement at William Jackson's has helped me no end. I have matured so much from the experience and it has helped me develop every single skill I posess as well as gaining some new skills.
The Company
There was always a good balance between fun and seriousness. I always enjoyed coming into work and could have a conversation with anyone in the office and feel comfortable.
Being the first Placement Student at the business there were a few areas that could have been done better but it got better and better as I went on. Now due to feedback and constant progression the placement is extremely well organised and can only be described as excellent.
The company invested a lot of time and money in getting me trained up to the standard they needed from me. They constantly offer opportunities to progress further and are committed to developing people.
I have been lucky enough to secure full time employment with the organisation after University so the opportunities are there for people to grasp.
The Culture
Regular meetings with my fellow placement students allowed us to interact, share experiences, support each other and become friends. Colleagues were very friendly and always asking you to attend different social outings.
Hull is one of the cheapest places to live in the country.
Busy bars and pubs located very close to work.
Many schemes ran for local charities such as Outward Bound Trust.
