The Role
Overall I really enjoyed the internship. It was a really nice working environment and the experience has been invaluable.
Everyone was so friendly and supportive, and patient with me when I asked stupid questions.
I had a meeting with my supervisor almost every month, to reflect on my experience and performance and to make sure I was getting the most from the internship.
It varied from day to day, but I was mostly busy every day, with just a handful of days where I didn't have much to do.
I managed my own small projects with individual clients and helped out on larger projects.
The knowledge of the industry, experience of project management and interaction with clients and suppliers will prove invaluable in my career.
The Company
A good balance between professional and fun. My colleagues worked very seriously in office hours but were friendly and fun during social events and lunch breaks.
The intern programme is very established so there were very few problems. There is a friendly HR manager who takes care of the interns.
I was given training on basic project management skills and procedures and taught about how we choose suppliers and deal with clients, and was given an insight into the broader industry.
I would be happy to work for Language Connect if I decided I wanted to pursue project management and they seem happy to employee former interns as project executives.
The Culture
Yes, because there are 5 interns at any one time it is very sociable. We also socialised with the whole office and the permanent employees make an effort to include interns in social activities.
London is very expensive but there are a few cheaper pubs and cafés in the immediate area surrounding the office.
Good pubs and cocktails bars, lively and mixed crowds. Didn't try any clubs.
Occasional sports activities in lunch breaks or after work, as well as social events.
