The Role
I really enjoyed it. It is fast paced place to work, but this suited my personality. THere is also a really strong intern community (approx 100 per year), which the social side of things great.
My team were lovely, especially my line manger (who I reported directly to). We had weekly meeting where we would discuss my progress and room for growth.
The weekly meetings were very helpful in giving guidance and support
It is a busy place to work - you will never be bored! But I still left at 5pm to 6pm most days.
Good levels of responsibility considering i was there for 10 weeks. They are very keen on interns actually adding value
It was less helpful for my degree, but very helpful in terms of life skills. Especially in terms of how to write good briefs/emails, how to interact effectively with others .etc.
The Company
Most of the employees are in their low to mid twenties, so there is a very young atmosphere, which is very fun. The atmosphere changes depending on department though. I was in Consumer, which is more chatty and loud than other departments (like Luxury).
There are a lot of interns each year (approx 100) and L'Oreal is very well set up to help them. It is organised very well, and HR are always available to talk to. We had a series of HR inductions at the start, which helped.
The weekly catch-ups with my manger sowed a big investment in me, as they regularly showed ways in which I could grow. HR also had a series of training sessions. However, there is also a big stress on personal initiative and seeking out solutions by yourself, which meant that opportunities for development and training often need to be seized by the employee themselves, are are not simply handed to you
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
It is very competetive to get a future job here. But I would love to work here if I could
The Culture
There was a great social scene. There were about 100 other interns, and we had an intern committee that organised nights out, dinners, sports .etc. very fun!
It is in Hammersmith. Renting costed av £700 per month, socialising was done at Queens Head, £4-£5 ish per drink
We never really went out in Hammersmith, went to Bodos, Makihi, .etc.
Yes, the intern committee meant there were many out of work activities. The HR team also made sure that there was yoga at 5.30pm every Wednesday.
