    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year. I got a hands on experience working on meaningful projects alongside industry experts.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel I played a crucial role in a team that really valued my input. I was given the freedom to bring my ideas to life in an environment not shy of support and advise.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I received a structured development programme complete with a number of external training days/events as part of the Eaton intern programme. I was then able to use the skills I had developed to drive my workplace performance and attain 'best in class' results on my projects. In addition to this I received the full support/guidance of my line manager and his team through frequent 1 on 1's and catch ups, as well as utilising his 'open door' policy as and when I needed it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My work load was predominantly improvement project based therefore I was able to work at my own pace and work towards milestones established at 1 on 1 meetings with my manager. It was rare that I came to a stand still with my projects (waiting on someone to get back to me) however when I did there was always something I was given whether that be an audit to compete or a vendor to set up.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My responsibility ranged depending what I was working on, but as you can imagine it grew towards the end of my year. I was trusted to meet deadlines, hit targets and see my projects from start to finish. This meant that I was responsible for securing for the relevant finance, calculating savings, arranging for external companies to visit and quote and completing all the paperwork in accordance to company policy. In addition to this the nature of my job meant that I often got an audience the senior management team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I expect they will play a huge role in the next 12 months as I complete my final year of university. It will also give me that edge in terms of experience when it is time to apply for graduate jobs.
