    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement at Warner Bros. I instantly became a valued member of an established team and was involved in all aspects of the work throughout the year. I was given a huge amount of responsibility but only when I was ready and I worked on all aspects of the job very closely with my line manager. The department works very hard but made the office a very friendly and fun environment to work in.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued. The department takes the internship programme very seriously and every member of the team always integrated the interns into all aspects of the department. I felt like a member of the team instantly and my opinion and thoughts were always welcomed and considered.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My line manager gave me a huge amount of support to ensure that I gained the most out of the internship year. I always had guidance when needed but was also given the freedom to work independently to learn and gain more skills. My personal and professional growth was a priority throughout the year and my performance and goals were regularly reviewed to ensure that I was happy with the work and the internship as a whole.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy due to the job role however it was never too busy. I shared the workload with my line manager so when we were busy we would know exactly what needed to be done and when, but if needed my manager would handle more work to ensure that it was not too much. I never had too little to do and the fact it was busy was a positive as it meant the job was dynamic and exciting.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a huge amount of responsibility, again due the job role, however it was never too much too quickly. I really enjoyed the amount of responsibility as it meant that I was contributing to the department on a daily basis and that I could see direct results from the work that I had completed. I always had the support of my line manager which allowed me to gain more responsibility throughout the year.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The intern role allowed me to take what I had learnt in theory at university and apply it to everyday situations. I received extra training on top of the job, such as effective presentation skills, which will be very useful for my final year. I have also gained real experience which will help when putting theory into context at university. The skills I have learnt this year will definitely help me in my future career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Although the department works really hard the office was always very friendly and fun. All members of the department are very approachable and always willing to help with any issues. Every team member was always up for a laugh and the team are very sociable.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very organised and there was a good structure to the year. We had various extra training sessions throughout the year on various days to ensure that all the interns could attend the training sessions. The starting week was organised so that the interns could get to know to know each other, the business and the departments so that they could settle in. There was a lot of socialising after work as well so that the interns could get to know each other.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company run a training programme throughout the year which focuses on developing different skills. There are also lots of additional training courses available for interns if they would like to develop a specific skill.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • While there is not a graduate scheme there are members of staff over various departments that used to be interns. There are also interns that have got jobs with various agencies that they worked with during the internship year.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes the interns are very social and there is a lot of socialising outside of work. As there are a lot of interns within different departments there is always something going on between the interns. The department I work in are also very social outside of work and like to go for drinks on a Friday.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As the placement is in London the cost of living and socialising is higher than in other areas, however it is not unmanageable. You can live in many areas of London that are affordable without having a really long commute to work. There are lots of things to do in London which may not be as expensive but the prices are higher as you are in the city.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife in London is great, there is always something going on. There are so many different areas to London to go out in and you have so many different options. The nightlife can be a bit expensive but it depends where you go out, you can also have a relatively cheap night that is just as good.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were some activities that you could get involved in, but that is depending on what department you worked in. Interns can get extra opportunities to work on different events and help out with those.
