    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The placement was extremely enjoyable. There was a good balance between work, organised socials and informative meetings. The placement was made even more enjoyable by the fact that everybody at the firm were so welcoming and friendly.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The firm has a reputation for being friendly and approachable and this is definitely true. Everyone took the time to talk to you and get to know you. This meant that I felt like I could fit in with my team and that they trusted me to do real work for them. This was very valuable.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The support during my placement was faultless. My trainee buddy was very attentive; he always ensured that I was happy with what I was doing and gave me regular feedback and advice. The same goes to say for my supervisor, who held regular reviews with me.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • 5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight structure was excellent. It was great to be able to sit in a team for the duration of the placement as this gave me a real insight into the sector and allowed me to get involved with real work and learn a lot about the current developments the team are working on. Furthermore, the presentations on the other teams were also an excellent way to get to know about them.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was always very positive. The open plan lay out of the firm makes the working environment very friendly and open. You feel comfortable asking anyone a question and they are always happy to help.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was able to develop my knowledge on the different practice areas of the firm quite extensively because of the presentations.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Having been at the firm for 2 weeks I have definitely got an excellent insight into what it would be like to work here. Owing to the friendly culture of the firm you instantly are made to feel comfortable and this allows you to get a good idea of what it would be like to work here. I was also able to get involved in other events like CSR and sport.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The company culture is evident. It is recognised for being welcoming and friendly and it definitely is that. Through staying in the same team for 2 weeks you get to know a lot of people as you are working with them constantly and see them everyday.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Having an insight into the firm will definitely help when it comes to deciding on where to apply/accept training contract offers.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The placement involved an induction day in London for which travel expenses were reimbursed. Furthermore we were paid for the 2 weeks placement.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The trainees organised lots of social events for the vac schemers to attend. Partners, trainees and other employees also attended so it was a great opportunity to get to speak to these people on a more informal basis.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The social events were really unique and interesting. We got to make pizza, attend a comedy show and go for lunch with partners. They were all great fun and events I would like to do again!

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I learnt about CSR and sport societies. I even got to play in one of the sporting teams.
