    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed working at warner bros. I feel like the content and knowledge that I was exposed to has really served to put me in a stellar position for when I graduate and am looking for a prospective graduate role. The work I was tasked with was business critical and gave me a sense of real importance working within the organisation.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel as though towards the start of the internship I wasn't valued as much, but this may have been because I was new. However once I proved myself I feel that I was tasked with real responsibility and truly became one of the team. Currently I feel very valued and am feel as if I am no longer treated like an intern but simply just another member of the Warner Bros team.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been a very big help to me whilst being at Warner Bros. From the offset he made me feel comfortable enough to be able to discuss any qualms or problems that I had, but also on multiple occasions, he took his own personal time to ensure that I understood everything or to give me guidance. I also was able to take a big role in the management of projects because of his confidence in me which I am very grateful for. I was also given support by senior management who often were willing to take the time to meet with me and treated me with the same respect that they would give to colleagues much higher than me.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My internship was in project management and business analysis and thus was heavily project based. As a result of this my workload would often depend on whether or not there was a project going on. I found that throughout the year the only time there wasn't a project going on that I needed to help manage and work on was around October to January, however when this happened I was able to work with other teams which exposed me to other areas of the department which served to enhance my knowledge.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel that my responsibility was little during the start of the placement, but I am glad of this as it gave me the chance to settle in and adjust to the environment and way of working. Once I had settled in and proven that I was capable I found that I received a lot more responsibility. After around 6 months I was even able to step in to my managers role when he was either sick or away from the office.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel that the skills developed and training received during the course of this placement will help me tremendously as it has given me real business IT experience with many different applications such as Clarity, ITSM, SAP etc... that employers are looking for. I believe that it has also really helped my soft skills which will be a big help when going for interviews for future jobs. The intern training provided was a big highlight as there were many different sessions that worked on preparing us for the corporate world. These ranged from things such as time management to presenting yourself in meetings and presentations and even Myers Briggs personality training.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • My office had a good atmosphere and was very upbeat. I was the youngest in my office by quite a bit but everyone still was positive and talkative. Around 7 months into the placement however there were mass redundancies in my department. Because of this, the atmosphere was affected and there was a distinct change. To combat this once those that had been made redundant left the department which used to be over 2 floors was merged onto the first floor. This changed the atmosphere once more into a much more positive one.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I feel that the overall work placement was very well organised as lots of training was provided and the interns were constantly updated on new events and training that would be needed to attend. When completing the placement it never felt as if the programme was being run poorly.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of investment I was included on all departmental training programmes and was able to attend the conferences with the international offices. I was also given a PPR in order to track my progress throughout the year, as well as regular sessions with the learning and development team for training and progress purposes. I was also given the chance to be part of the reverse mentoring program which enabled me to mentor some of the senior members of the business who weren't in my department in order to teach them about current technology and trends that they may not know about, which in turn enabled me to learn more about the business as a whole and develop myself.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Warner Bros as a company do not have a graduate scheme and have had to recently let go of large amounts of staff, however I feel that in a few years time if things improve and once I have some more experience I may be able to come back

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes from the moment I was accepted for the role, I was placed in a Facebook group with all of the other interns that had been accepted. In my year there were about 55 interns so there was a good social scene.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
