    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The placement was extremely challenging and rewarding. I have learnt an unbelievable amount whilst working in the company - more than you could ever learn in the classroom. I improved a range of skills such as improving my business language to Excel skills.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues. Everyone was very complimentary and was eager to remind me of what I had done well.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support by my colleagues and managers. I was given the opportunity to work independently, but also knew that I could ask any questions freely without being judged. My colleagues would drop whatever they were doing to help me out.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied greatly depending on the stage of the project and what was going on around me. I learnt to enjoy the quiet times and be grateful for the relaxed pace. Some days I was extremely busy, but I enjoy the challenge and tend to perform well under pressure, so this worked for me.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good level of responsibility. I worked independently and was able to use my knowledge to make decisions. At the same time, I did not feel too pressured and did not feel thrown in at the deep end. Obviously, the further into my placement I was, the more responsibility I was given.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have gained some insight into business that I could not learn in the classroom. The life and social skills i have picked up will stand me in good stead for the rest of my career. I now feel comfortable in a business environment and feel that I am much better prepared for future interviews and assessment centres.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was good. It was a good environment to work in - not too quiet that I was bored, but not too loud that I was distracted. We frequently had friendly conversation and laughed together.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I found the placement to be very well organised. I have no complaints about how things were run.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company gave us a week's worth of training at the beginning of the placement and I was given additional online training as the placement progressed.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am not sure yet whether or not I will receive a job offer. But typically, if you work well within the company and have good references from your managers, you are likely to receive a graduate recruitment offer.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was not much of a social scene amongst fellow interns. I made good friends with one other intern and she is the only other intern that I saw frequently. I only ever saw the other interns at social events organised by the company.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in London is extortionate! But that is what one should expect. You just need to adjust by saving the pennies where possible.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Nightlife was fantastic - something for everybody in London.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was quite a lot of opportunities to get involved with activities outside of work, such as sport teams.

    4/5
