    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall this was an enjoyable learning experience. The experience of working for a large multinational is experience I will have for the future.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Generally I felt the work I carried out was valued by the majority of colleagues.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt there was support there if I needed it. Monthly one to one meetings give great forum to discuss the job and how I felt it was progressing and how my manager felt I was progressing. I would receive feedback in these sessions on things I was doing well but also area's that I needed to improve on. This was a positive learning experience for me because it is the area's that are not my strong point that I need to work on and improve upon for future job roles.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I feel a strong sense of initiative helps in this job. There are periods when it is very busy around holidays when the travel and tourism industry is at its peak. However the more quiet periods it helped to have projects to work on or ideas on how to try and improve the service the Competition team provided to the Revenue Management department.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was surprised how much responsibility I was given during the work placement. I was allowed to work on projects that were not specific to the Competition team but more to the overall benefit of the organisation. I was given many reports that were my sole responsibility to complete or create.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I really feel that the skills that I learned during my time with Avis Europe will help me in the future. They are already proving to be a great asset in my final year of studies, either through how to approach coursework or just the general approach to studying. The skills I learned from Microsoft Excel have helped me in designing an investment analysis tool as part of my final year project.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was professional and pleasant.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I felt the work placement was well organised.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was allowed to attend the Baseline Intermediate Excel training course that was excellent learning experience to help my Microsoft Excel skills. It was very easy to organise meetings with members of staff to ask help with any of the systems I was trying to learn.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Job opportunities arise when Avis employees move on and their job becomes available.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was no social scene amongst fellow placement students apart from an occasional lunch.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cost of living was average however the room rental prices were quite expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There is not much night life in Bracknell but there is in Reading, Windsor or London which are relatively near to Bracknell.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities to attend various plays at discounted prices. There was 5 aside football organised for every Friday.
