    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my time out on placement at HAYS. I have been given huge responsibilities which I have learnt a lot from. I have also worked with an extremely hard working team that enjoys working and makes the most out of each day. The team are there to help me every step of the way. I would certainly recommend any student to apply to be an intern at HAYS.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I certainly felt valued by my colleagues. They gave me lots of different responsibilities each day and treated me like a full member of team. Never at any point did I feel that I was not valued. Being valued by my colleagues helped me to go into each task with confidence and spurred me on to improve.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt that I was given plenty of formal training at the start (first 3 months) of my placement however I did feel that there was little training after that to help retain information gained and keep that knowledge updated and fresh in the mind.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Working within the construction and property team I felt that I was extremely busy each day and always had something to be getting on with. Becausee of the nature of the market, I had to always be sourcing candidates and dealing with clients all the time. It was sometimes difficult to perform many tasks at once due to the volume of work that I had to complete.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility that helped me to feel like a valued member of the team. I was always encouraged to deal with important candidates and clients and help solve any issues they had or live jobs to work on. This responsibility helped me to learn about the market my team was operating a lot quicker than I anticipated. This enabled me to take on tasks that many did not expect me to take on so early in my placement. I have also learnt a lot about myself and the way I work through the team giving me responsibility to take on my own recruitment desk.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Learning about myself on a personal, academic and professional level will help me in my studies next year. I am a lot more confident than I ever was and I have also worked with many large businesses across the UK which has helped improve my knowledge of how businesses work internally and externally. Communicating with these businesses through many different mediums has also improved my communication skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Strong, professional but fun was the general atmosphere in the office. Everybody knew when the time was to work and when there was time to have fun and socialise. If we were ever slacking our managers would tell us, if we looked like we were having no fun our managers/directors would also use various incentives to help us achieve success. The best atmosphere of any office I have worked in.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I thought it was set up well but there is room for improvement when it comes to developing throughout your placement to make sure everyone is on the right track.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I thought they invested in me a lot at the start of my placement but not as much after 3-4 months.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I feel they are very appealing. Some managers have already expressed a desire to take me on full time after university if can continue with the level of success.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was an extremely good social scene amongst placement students. We would go out regularly together and also go out with our current team members.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Manchester city centre is extremely diverse so there was plenty of places to eat and drink cheaply and there was also extremely nice places which were expensive to go to but were of the highest quality

    4/5

  • Manchester city centre has a diverse nightlife. There is something for everyone here.

    3/5
