    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • 7/10 - There is a lot of variety and scope to develop yourself as a professional as well as making a real impact to the business. My colleagues are lovely and really supportive. You are stretched in your role, my line manager had a chat with me on what I wanted to get out of the year, and my skills and weaknesses and then the projects I work on have been developed to build on my strengths and improve my weaknesses as well as challenge me and get the result that I want!

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues would always push me to achieve and gave me duties beyond the normal boundaries of a placement student. I finished the placement and I am still in regular contact with the whole team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager gave me the support, confidence and knowledge to achieve in the recruitment industry. The guidance my manager gave me has set me up for life and I do not believe I would be in an employable position without her.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I never felt like I was bored or left without any work to do but at the same time I was never stressed with the workload that I was given.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement, I organised meetings with key stakeholders and regularly had contact with a European network of colleagues and customers. I took ownership of several topics and really changed the way of doing business in HR. It was a fantastic experience and I had a lot of exposure.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I developed a wide range of skills, from strengthening my strengths to improving my weaknesses, and being challenged in areas that I had no experience of at all. It's possible to really make the placement your own, and control the amount of exposure that you want to have.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is friendly, with the set up largely open plan. However it is also a very productive set up.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement has been very well organised with a standard that you are expected to work to and a work plan already in place before you start, you are then able to take on additional projects and experience different areas on top of your work plan depending on your interests.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We aren't given a lot of formal training by Unilever, however there are optional training courses that you can attend if you choose to. The placement is designed to challenge and stretch you as an employee and an individual.

    3/5

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
