    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was an extremely enjoyable two weeks. The work I was involved in was fast-paced and complicated while the social events were varied and provided a good opportunity to meet a spread of people from the firm.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued. From partners to trainees and support staff I was made to feel welcome and consistently included in anything going on in the office. I was invited to departmental drinks and a 'merging party' of two groups on top of all the insight scheme's own events.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • As much as could be realistically expected from such a high-pressured commercial environment. Any tasks were fully explained and I could always ask if I encountered difficulties. Trainees provided invaluable advice on the practicalities of going about tasks and there was always support from the insight scheme organisers themselves.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The practicalities of applying my skills in the commercial environment were extremely useful. The opportunity to constantly ask questions and observe the day-to-day handling of cases, from understanding clients to the law itself, was illuminating.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was a very well-run programme, providing an excellent balance between talks and actually doing and shadowing some work. The social elements were also good fun in providing an opportunity outside of the office to get to know others on the scheme.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone enjoyed the scheme as much as is possible when you know that it is also essentially a two-week interview process. Nonetheless the social events and amenability of everyone at the firm made you at ease very quickly.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a negotiation skills workshop which introduced us to the firm's preferred tactics. Certainly the theory behind it was extremely interesting and made me analyse how I approach such a situation more than I ever had before.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • This was my main reason for applying to the scheme and certainly two weeks was enough to really get an impression of how the firm operated. Even on a smaller scale, seeing the way people interacted with each other in the office allowed me to appreciate the atmosphere as one where I would with well,

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • As above,

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I was already pretty certain on my career choices. This just confirmed my choices and informed me about the firm.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were numerous opportunities from drinks with partners, a future-joiners event, departmental drinks, as well as being able to email people within the firm and ask them anything.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • A broad range from just our group to those including trainees and other members of the firm. The networking events were internal as above.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there was an interactive talk on this as well as the opportunity to go with people involved in ''extra-curricular'' activities, if you had the time.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • If they were interested in the law and the type of work offered, absolutely.
