The Role
Very enjoyable, a lot of responsibility. I was fully integrated into the team very quickly, good introduction into the industry.
Well supported by other members of the team and often relied apon to assist with tasks and manage other processes.
Mentors are available if required, i did not think this was necessary for me. Support is always avaliable from manager and they are all very approachable for information and assistance.
At the start of my placement work was gradually introduced. I have picked up further work and responsibilities as i have progressed through my placement. At times very busy although it is all manageable.
A lot, fully integrated into the team and give a real role in the department. New work/ projects picked up i have managed and this shows a great deal of trust given to placement students.
The skills learnt from a placement year are something you will never have the chance to do anywhere else.
The Company
Busy, with a lot going on. Friendly atmosphere and most people are very approachable.
Very well, further training is available and placement students are encouraged to get involved in everything.
I have been out of the office on field visits, to onsite training and meetings with external clients. Further training is also available if required especially for IT support such as excel training.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
The company is not regulary hiring, so only if a position becomes avaiable can previous undergraduates be considered.
The Culture
Very good social nights due to the high number of other placement students. Handover was full of organsied events to meet everyone.
Cost of living is quite high if you choose to live in decent/ area/ house. It all depends on what you choose, no more expensive that uni houses.
OK, easy to travel to other areas though.
Yes, plenty of community opportunities. A lot of activities are organised by other staff, nights out, sporting events, charity events etc...
