    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement very much and I do not regret choosing Siemens as my placement company.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt my colleagues accepted me as a regular member of staff. I was treated the same as everybody else and found my work to be valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I have worked for a few different managers during my placement and they were all very helpful and supportive. They were always available if I ever needed any support but didn't micro-manage me at all.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varies from day to day but I never found myself with nothing to do. If I had a particularly quiet period, my manager would always ensure there was something extra to do.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given some responsibility by my manager and felt they trusted me to carry out the job. I did feel I could have had more responsibility and, through speaking with fellow interns, this really depended on which department we were placed.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I believe the skills I developed will help me with my future career but not necessarily with my degree course. This is because I did not get chance to hone my technical skills as much as I would have liked.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in my office was very friendly but also focused. Colleagues were always available to discuss ideas or ask questions when necessary.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think the internship program was very well organised. There were several days of induction activities when we started and we have been supported throughout. The internship program also arranged several activities for interns across the country. This included a team-bonding day, a presentation workshop and an end of year gala.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As detailed above, the company provided all the interns with an opportunity to attend the organised days throughout the year. They also were available to give advice about our further progression. The company have also agreed to support me when I work on my dissertation in my final year.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Having spoken to many people who have worked at the company for an extended amount of time, I believe the future employment prospects are good. I am also aware that the graduate program is well rated by the current graduates.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Most colleagues were always willing to invite all of the interns / graduates to their private social events. There were also a couple of events put on by the company, including a quiz night. Primarily though, events were arranged privately and not through the company.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area in which I worked was quite expensive, but this is to be expected on the south coast.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was very good as it is a student town and there are plenty of clubs and bars.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work, such as five-a-side football once a week. There were also trips arranged through the company, including the '3-peaks' challenge.

    4/5
