R&D Technologist Review

I enjoyed this placement a huge amount. The people who I worked with and the flexibility of what I was aloud to try was amazing.

Everyone who I have worked with has been very supportive and encouraging of whatever projects I was working on and thanks to e-cards and awards I always felt valued and included.

Whatever project or piece of work I was working on, I had full support by not only my supervisor but everyone else in the business.

The rate of work flow varied a lot from a day to day basis. Some days were pretty hectic with so much to do where as some days there was nothing immediate to do which leaves a good opportunity to catch up on paperwork and research. Pretty well balanced.

I had my own projects to run myself which was great to be trusted to make important decisions about my own product and then to be able to see my product on the shelves was extremely rewarding,

The skills I have developed will be of great value when I leave the business. I have a much greater knowledge of how the food indusrtry works, I have met a huge variety of people from different levels of the company and my scientific knowledge of the products made at the three different Muller sites has grown thanks to support of collegues and training days.

Everyone was always positive about what the day was brining and even though there was a good level of concentration to work there was a lot of fun and interesting conversation in lunch breaks etc.

I was made very welcome very quickly. Even though I got a lot of experience from the placement I personally could have done with some more structure earlier on in the placement however I learnt very quickly that I only had to ask someone for me to get the answer or experience that I wanted.

The company invested a lot of time into making sure I got to grips with the workings of the company early on. As well as this, training days were had for the R&D team which I was included in which was a good way for my experience to develop.

I would be extremely happy to come back to work for Muller. I have already been given an extra month on my original placement which is great for me but to come back and work with them again would be really good.

There was a great social scene amongst the younger crowd across all three sites. Shrewsbury is mainly where the younger workers live and even though it is a small place there are activities most weekends or nights out to get involved in. I was included into the group within 1 week of starting placement which was great.

The living and socialising costs were pretty average. Not overly expensive if you house share (sparroom.com) and the social scene is again, not cheap but not stupidly expensive.

Nightlife is fairly good considering Shrewsbury is such a small place. There are some nice ccocktail bars and a couple of clubs that are great for younger people.

Yes, loads. There are often plans to have a weekend road trip or a walk or film night etc for anyone to get involved in.
